Photochromic Lenses

A photochromic lens is an optical lens that darkens on exposure to light of sufficiently high frequency, most commonly ultraviolet (UV) radiation. In the absence of activating light, the lenses return to their clear state.

These lenses contain a special, light-sensitive material between their layers, typically made of organic and inorganic components. When exposed to UV rays, photochromic molecules reshape, darkening the lens. Once UV exposure decreases, the molecules return to their original form, clearing the lens. This cycle allows lenses to adapt continuously to lighting changes.

Convenience: These lenses offer convenience as they eliminate the need for two pairs of glasses (optical and sunglasses). They block 100% of UVA and UVB rays, protecting the eyes from harmful ultraviolet radiation. While they are initially more expensive than standard lenses, photochromic lenses can be more economical than purchasing separate prescription glasses and sunglasses.
